Flavored Alkaline Water

Many people already acknowledge the many wonderful benefits that water can provide to us, but even with that understanding we often fail to ever intake the amount of water that our body needs daily to perform all of its important functions. Drinking water is definitely a lot easier said than done, but it is something that we should consistently work on in order to ensure a happy and healthy body for ourselves. Luckily, many people have gotten increasingly creative with the ways that we can dress up the taste of water. For example, flavored alkaline water has become an absolute hit! It provides all of the benefits that alkaline water can provide for you (in comparison to plain water) and it also offers amazing flavor options for you to try out so that you can feel excited to take a sip every time. With all the temptations of other drinks such as sugary juices and smoothies, milkshakes, tea, coffee, etc. it can become pretty difficult for the average person to get the nutrients and benefits they need from water. This is because sometimes the water they have access to may not be good for their health and other times it can boil down to the fact that water is just so plain. Thankfully flavored alkaline water nails both of those problems out of the park. They not only have added benefits that other kinds of water do not offer, but they come in a variety of different flavors to keep you intrigued in wanting to sip more and more!

What is Alkaline Water?

Before I encourage you to pursue flavored alkaline water, it would probably be best to first go over what alkaline water is, for anyone that may be confused. It first would help to give a mini crash course on pH. pH is known as the potential hydrogen of a substance. It measures the hydrogen ion concentration within that substance. The pH scale can range from 0-14 and this scale is based on the concentration of the hydrogen ion within pure water. This is known to be neutral which means it has a pH of 7. Anything with a pH below 7 is considered to be acidic while anything above 7 is considered to be basic. The lower the hydrogen concentration the more basic the solution is and the higher the concentration of hydrogen ions is, the more acidic it becomes. It is quite easy for people to confuse basic and alkaline as the same thing. Both of these terms do not mean the same thing, but they certainly can relate to each other. Think of the term alkaline as not “basic” rather things that can be added to a substance that can make that substance become basic. That is typically what is meant when referring to alkaline. So, in this sense think of alkaline water as water that had certain things added to it, in order to make the water even more basic. Many factors influence how plain tap water becomes alkaline water. Inorganic salts such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, and sodium are some of the compounds that are typically added to plain tap water in order to bring the pH level of the water to a more basic step. Normally, tap water falls at a pH of around 7, but when these inorganic salts are added, it can bring the water’s pH level down to a level of around 8 or 9. The higher amounts of these total dissolved solids, the more basic the water becomes.

Benefits of Alkaline Water

There has been a lot of research done to understand the effects of pH food and drinks on our body. Many people have stated that alkaline water has many medicinal and curative properties that can bring great health to our body. This is based on the belief that acidic properties within the body and blood are actually the root cause of many illnesses and diseases that need to be neutralized. Here are some of the other helpful benefits that alkaline water can provide for your body!

Antioxidant Rich

Antioxidant is the key to having a healthy body that functions well and at optimal levels. Alkaline water is known to be very rich in a number of antioxidants and these work well to provide a great deal of benefits to our body. They help fight against free radicals and cellular damage within the body which can lead to aggressive forms of cancer and other illnesses such as heart disease, arthritis, and other diseases. The most common antioxidant that tends to exist within alkaline water is hydrogen antioxidants. These kinds of antioxidants are so tiny that they are able to penetrate the cell membrane quite easily and help the cell become more efficient in its functions. In other words, antioxidants are key to helping your body fight against all of the horrible illnesses and diseases that can invade your body and thankfully alkaline water is full of them.

Neutralizes the Acidity within the Body

It is very common in our society to fill ourselves up on an array of food that we don’t think about as being acidic and harmful to us. The truth is that so much of the food that we tend to consume is naturally acidic and this can create high levels of acidity within our own body if consumed in high amounts. High acidity within the body can pose an array of health concerns that can be avoided through drinking alkaline water. Alkaline water is a great way to neutralize the concern of too much acidity within the body. The only other alternative to neutralizing acidity within the body would be to overall limit the intake of acidic foods, but that is incredibly difficult to do considering the fact that acid forming substances are in an array of foods that we consume daily such as meat, dairy, nuts, coffee, caffeinated drinks, refined table salt, unsprouted beans, grains, carbonated drinks, sweeteners, and more. Don’t stress yourself about creating a less acidic diet and instead choose to neutralize your acidity with alkaline water! I mean you have to drink water anyways so might as well choose the water that not only hydrates you but balances your body’s pH levels!

Bonus Benefits of Alkaline Water

In addition to the benefits I outlined earlier, alkaline water is beneficial because it is oxygen rich and can increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in the blood. It works to eliminate mucus that can build up within the body and this will improve the body’s ability to absorb crucial nutrients. Alkaline water can also help to cleanse out toxins within the body and its packed with negatively charged hydroxyl ions that help to contribute to alertness, increased energy, and mental clarity. An additional benefit is that it can help your body control weight because it reduces the body’s need for fatty tissues that help to protect vital organs from acidity. It helps to sore that acidic waste in less critical parts of the body! There are so many more benefits that I can add, but I think you get the overall message of why alkaline water is so great for your body and overall health. If you feel inspired to start drinking alkaline water, then I am inclined to tell you all about flavored alkaline water. Flavored alkaline water provides all the benefits that I already mentioned and it tastes so much better than regular water, which therefore encourages you to drink more of it!
